FOCUS: “Chiapas in the Spiral of Armed and Criminal Violence”

On March 19th, in the framework of its 36th anniversary, the Fray Bartolome de las Casas Center for Human Rights (Frayba) presented its report "Chiapas, in the Spiral of Armed and Criminal Violence (Between Governmental Chaos, Organized Crime and the Paths of Struggle and Resistance)", which aims to leave a record of what happened in the state during the period from January 2023 to June 2024.

ARTICLE: Seeds of Struggle. Legacies of Hope and Justice

November 2023 marked a significant moment for the Diocese of San Cristobal, celebrating 100 years since the birth of Samuel Ruiz Garcia, a bishop who dedicated his life to defending the rights of indigenous peoples and who, to this day, is fondly remembered as jTatik Samuel. His legacy lives on, reminding us of the importance of social justice and human dignity.

FOCUS: Megaprojects, a risk factor for those who defend territory

According to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), Mexico is the fourth country worldwide with the greatest biological biodiversity. Thanks to its geographical location, relief and diversity of climates, the country has nine of the 11 types of ecosystems; about 200 thousand different species and is also home to approximately 12% of the biodiversity in the world.
